We started Miss FIT with one goal: To build a supportive, results-driven fitness space for women. In 2013, we opened our first gym on Route 40 in Catonsville. From the beginning, we focused on a wide variety of classes to suit a wide variety of women, offering childcare to make it easy for moms to be part of the fun. When we saw how many women came for a class but stayed to catch up with a friend or head off to a playdate with another Miss FIT family, we knew we had something special.
In the summer of 2017, we were thrilled to relocate to a beautiful new space in Historic Ellicott City, in the newly restored Caplan’s Department Store building on Main Street. Caplan’s had been nearly destroyed by a catastrophic flood in August 2016, but we were excited to be part of its renaissance, and the rebirth of Historic Ellicott City itself.
On May 27, 2018, the second major flood in 22 months completely devastated Main Street. The Miss FIT gym was destroyed and all its contents were lost.
While we were heartbroken ourselves and for all of our Main Street neighbors, we quickly realized that the Miss FIT community could not be washed away. Together, our members and staff rallied to help us recover and rebuild. We committed to continue our mission in Ellicott City, at a new space in the historic Ellicott Theatre on Main Street. Thanks to the support of all those in the Miss FIT community and beyond, our gorgeous, two-story studio is now open at 8225 Main Street. We are back and better than ever. Come check us out.
